The custom-built home at 4315 Central Avenue in Ocean City was the year-round residence of Rick and Nancy Sloan and family, starting in 1997. They raised a family here and won’t be moving away from the community they love, just to a place a bit more accommodating for the empty-nesters.

“We are moving to a smaller home here in Ocean City. One with everything on one floor,” Nancy explained.

The Sloan’s hired Joe Fralinger to build them the home of their dreams and he made sure no detail was overlooked.

The centerpiece of the home, apart from the striking views that we’ll get to later, is the octagonal wooden staircase, built by Rob Hoffman, which swirls from ground level to the top of the house, capped with a cupola.

The stairs are unique in that there is only a baluster at the bottom and the top of the staircase.

“I spent a lot of time going up and down these stairs when the kids were young. It’s probably what kept me fit,” Nancy said.

With four bedrooms, three full baths and two half baths, the home could easily accommodate a family or plenty of guests.

The cedar-sided two-story features a plethora of French doors and windows, which let in plenty of natural light and the cool ocean breezes that Ocean City is known for.

Another feature that stands out is the amount of closet and storage space. The master bedroom alone features two closets for him and a huge walk-in closet for her and another closet in the dressing or vanity area. There is also a linen closet in the master bath.

The master bedroom has a private deck, his and hers sinks, full bath with Jacuzzi soaking tub, stand-alone shower and skylight that illuminates the whole room. The views from the master bedroom rank amongst the best on the island.

“We can watch fireworks in Atlantic City, Ocean City and all along the Cape May County waterfront,” said Nancy.

There is also a natural gas fireplace in the master bedroom and the great room downstairs.

While this home was built for a family, it is set-up perfectly for entertaining.

The kitchen and dining room sit above a sunken great room that allows the host to be in the kitchen, but also part of the action.

The kitchen is a cook’s dream with a sizable pantry, Sub Zero refrigerator, two ovens (one convection, the other microwave convection), a built-in stove top and Corian counter tops with a breakfast bar area.

The party could easily spill out of the great room, onto the deck and even further to the paver patio. There is plenty of room for a backyard barbecue or enjoying a fall evening by the chiminea.

The home has paver sidewalks that run along both sides of the house and there is a side “beach” entrance that includes outside foot shower, inside shower enclosure and changing area.

The two car garage includes a large storage area and the property includes a sprinkler system and professional landscaping.

Whether you’re looking for a great place to raise a family or that special summer vacation home, the beauty and attention to detail can be found right here at 4315 Central Ave. in Ocean City.
