Last week Democrat Obama defeated Republican Romney for president in a very close election (50.5 percent to 47.9 percent). Republicans lost two seats in the U.S. Senate but kept their majority in the House of Representatives, the branch of the federal government responsible for spending, taxes and borrowing.
The TV networks and their “experts” say this proves that the American people rejected conservatives. They say Frank LoBiondo and other Republicans in Congress can save their party only by being like Chris Christie – working with Democrats to give us more laws, higher taxes, more debt, and citizenship with the right to vote for some 20 million illegal foreigners.
But Christie Republicans lost big in New Jersey.
Why did 93 percent of African Americans vote for Obama? The key was thousands of “community organizers” who knocked on every door in black neighborhoods and said Republicans would put them back in chains if they didn’t go out and vote for every Democrat on the ballot.
This was a big lie. The Republican Party ended slavery. Conservatives want all blacks to be educated, prosperous and self-reliant. Only the well-paid community organizers with do-nothing jobs for government agencies and nonprofit organizations funded by the government benefit by keeping blacks poor and dependent on politicians.
Yet year after year, Republican Gov. Christie and Republicans in Congress give billions of federal and state tax dollars to the government agencies and private organizations that hire these community organizers.
Why did 55 percent of women and 60 percent of young people under 30 vote for Obama? I think a lot of this is because Republicans never defended liberty. Republicans should tell women and young people how the Declaration of Independence and the Ninth and Tenth Amendments of the Constitution clearly recognize the “unalienable” rights of each individual to make his or her most personal choices. Including early term abortions, joining labor unions, and returning home after a bad storm.
Instead, Republican vice-presidential candidate Ryan spoke passionately during the debate about his personal religious beliefs on abortion – including that human life begins at conception. Most Americans disagree, including many who are religious.
And so it was Democratic Vice President Joe Biden who defended liberty and the Constitution. Biden explained that public officials must put aside their personal religious views to equally protect the beliefs of everyone – including those who think differently.
Republicans once won elections by telling pro-life groups what they wanted to hear while privately telling pro-choice women the courts were blocking pro-life legislation. But that all changed in 2000 when Republicans took the White House and Senate and could change the Supreme Court.
Now Democrats and the liberal media inject the abortion issue into every campaign. They also ask questions that force Republican candidates that take the Catholic “human life begins at conception” doctrine to its logical conclusion: “If human life indeed begins at conception, aren’t abortions for rape and incest also murder?” Almost any answer to this difficult question loses votes for Republicans.
If they want to win, Republicans must admit that government must leave women and their families alone to make their own complicated and personal decisions on early term abortions.
In spite of all this, Romney still had a chance for a narrow victory after Obama bungled that first debate. Until our Republican Gov. Chris Christie killed it.
Christie’s unnecessary and undeserved praise of Obama just a few days before the election put Obama back in the lead. Christie was not just an ordinary Republican governor. Christie was Romney’s keynote speaker at the Republican Convention. And Christie spoke for Romney in many key swing states.
The Democrats immediately produced and ran devastating TV spots of Christie praising Obama nonstop in all the swing states. This was no accident. Christie knew exactly what he was doing. But why?
Part was to get federal relief money. By closing the casinos and all barrier islands for five days, Christie created more economic damage than the storm. But if Obama bails us out with buckets of FEMA money, nobody will care.
But being adored for days on national TV was even more important. Christie could only get that coverage from liberal TV networks by helping Obama win the election. Liberals only build up Republicans when they are useful in keeping more conservative Republicans from winning. It looks like Christie forgot what happened to John McCain. These TV networks then destroy “useful idiot “Republicans like they are no longer useful.
The sooner that happens to Christie, the better for Republicans everywhere.
