Miss Ocean City Pageant set for Saturday, parade Wednesday

OCEAN CITY — Celebrating its 43rd year, the Miss Ocean City Pageant will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk, sponsored by the Ocean City Exchange Club.
Nine young women will compete for the title currently held by Brenna Carnuccio.
Contestants are Caroline Bowman, Cassie Cattie, Tricia DeFelice, Samantha Dowling, Katie Larkin, Rachel Louviaux, Eva Nuesbaum, Phoebe Schumacher and Devon Vanderslice.
This year’s pageant has a New York theme and contestants will be dancing and singing to Broadway tunes as Michael Kelly serves as master of ceremonies.
The contestants will compete in swimsuit, evening gown, talent and a private judge’s interview. All areas of competition are weighted equally. At the end of the night, the most well rounded contestant will take home the crown along with over $3,000 in scholarships and prizes.
The Exchange Club of Ocean City generates the majority of scholarship moneu, along with donations from Gillian’s Wonderland Pier, Nahza Cancer Center, Godfrey Funeral Homes, Firemens Mutual Benevolent Association, Policemens Benevolent Association, and many businesses that place ads in the program book.
This year’s pageant is produced by Aubre Naughton and chaired by Maribeth Neall. Thanks to the sponsors, over $12,000 is scholarships and prizes will be given away on Saturday night.
Watch the Miss Ocean City Pageant Parade 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 on the boardwalk. The theme of the parade is “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” Vote for a contestant for the People’s Choice Award in front of the Music Pier.
