A Phan-tastic day

OCEAN CITY – Students at the Arc of Atlantic County had a special green treat when the Philly Phanatic made an appearance at the Bayside Center Tuesday, June 26.
The students meet each week inside the BaysideCenter for art classes.
Arc volunteer Pat Walsh said the visit from the Phanatic was a year in the making.
“I tried to get him last year,” she said, but the Phanatic was booked.
When the call came in last week that he was available, Walsh said she didn’t hesitate to say yes.
“They’re all Phillies fans,” she said of the students. “So, you can see how much joy he brings.”
The students and volunteers laughed and joked with the Phanatic for about an hour outside, posing for photos and getting hugs.
The Arc of Atlantic County’s mission is to improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the community through direct services, advocacy, education and prevention activities.
