OCEAN CITY – Bill Quain, author of 20 books and an Ocean City resident, will participate in an hour-long phone discussion through Amazon about self publishing trends at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, with Amazon CTO Michael Ashley.
Quain, whose latest book “Happy Leap Day!” launched on Amazon’s Best Sellers List on Feb. 29, will take calls at the conference dial-in number (605) 475-4000. To participate, use access code 613056#. Questions can also be emailed at https://www.google.com/moderator/#16/e=1fe9dc
“It is very possible for average authors to become Amazon best sellers, but you need to understand a few, very critical steps in order to do it quickly and inexpensively,” Quain said in a press release. “I learned how to do it the hard way, by trial and error.”
Quain also will discuss the use of FastPencil, a program he used in writing his most recent book.
Five points Quain will cover in the one-hour Tip Talk:
Three costly mistakes to avoid when setting up your best-seller strategy;
How to catapult your book into the Top 100 on Amazon's list by choosing the right categories for listing your book;
Why it makes more sense to launch your best-seller campaign on Kindle first, and then sell books in paperback;
How to utilize the best-kept selling secret on Kindle to build sales quickly; and
Why it is critical to choose a launch date, and to concentrate sales.
Despite his success in selling more than 2 million copies of his books in many languages, Quain – a legally blind, part-time college professor and former executive chef – considers himself an ordinary author. He is sharing his tactics in order to make it possible for other ordinary authors to become best-selling writers.
