WWCD?: The Sequel

Due to overwhelming demand from our legion of fan (singular) and public pressure, this week’s Unfiltered column features “What Would Cindy Do?: The Sequel.”
Yup, Unfiltered is going Hollywood.
Even films that meet with the most modest measure of success at the box office are immediately talked up for a sequel. Writers are hired. Actors are signed. Directors are “attached” to the project.
Here at Unfiltered, we need no such cadre of experts. We are perfectly capable of producing an excellent product single-handedly. Especially, when we know the subject as well as we do.
Also, as we are online and not filming on a set or location, we are able to bring you our sequel now. No pesky one- or two-year waits that you’ve been trained to expect from such amateurs as “Harry Potter” or those “Twilight” vampires.
So, without further ado, Unfiltered presents “WWCD?: The Sequel.”
But first, a quick review of the original “WWCD?” What Would Cindy Do, hereafter referred to as Part I, listed 10 things on Cindy’s summer wish list. After completing the list, Unfiltered’s team realized the list was incomplete.
So, now, the highly originally named “WWCD?: The Sequel”:
10. Steam clams and shrimp in beer (in Unfiltered’s BYOB kitchen)
9. Walk in the surf. Unfiltered’s impressive collection of beach tags extends back to the dawn of time and, due to annual lack of use, are in pretty mint condition. This year, Unfiltered vows to make our beach badge purchase more than a monetary contribution to the city.
8. Have waffles and ice cream at Hobby Horse on the corner of Eighth Street and Ocean Avenue and call it “dinner.”
7. Sit on Unfiltered’s dining room deck and witness the setting of the sun. Watch the herons and egrets poking around in the marsh for a meal. Realize that Unfiltered works mostly nights and that this is just a pipe dream.
6. Check out all the new stores in Ocean City’s “year-round” shopping district on Asbury Avenue before they close for the off-season.
5. Visit Revel in Atlantic City before it files for bankruptcy.
4. Catch a show at the Music Pier. Among the many productions held there, some occasionally feature Ocean City High School students. They are always well done, reasonably priced and a pleasant way to end a day.
3. Go crabbing under the 34th Street bridge. This is Unfiltered’s kind of “fishing.” Bored with it? Walk away. Try doing that on a boat. Splash!
2. Buy Jersey Fresh produce at the Farmer’s Market at the Tabernacle. Figure out what to do with all of it once it’s in the kitchen.
1. Finish reading, by summer’s end, the book Unfiltered started last week: “The Psychopath Test” by Jon Ronson. Since it’s unsettling to realize everybody around Unfiltered is a potential psychopath, Unfiltered is rationing out the pages so as not to get too freaked out.
Unfiltered is certain this sequel will be so well-received that the team is tentatively exploring the idea of a Part III. Stay tuned.
