NORTHFIELD – There were smiles all around Tuesday morning as Northfield Community School finally opened its doors and start the school year. While mold kept the students, teachers and staff out of the building and extended summer vacation for an seven school days the clean up was completed Monday, Sept. 17.
Fipp said, “I am very grateful to our school staff for their patience and comforting words; to our administrators for their leadership; to our board of education members for their support and assistance; to our school families for helping each other and us in every way they could; and to our experts for giving us the direction and tools to remediate this difficult situation.”
The superintendent added, “Our opening day has been full of excitement and anticipation for a marvelous year to come.”
The Northfield Board of Education has a meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24 and the superintendent is inviting parents who may have questions about the clean up to attend as she said many questions will be answered at the meeting.
The board will also be voting on a revised school calendar that night.
The missed days necessitated a change to the district’s calendar like the annual back-to-school nights.
