VENTNOR – Students at the Ventnor Educational Community Complex celebrated Read Across America Day Friday, March 1. Each class had an assembly celebrating the life and work of Theodor Seuss Geisel, better knows as Dr. Seuss, who was born March 2, 1904.
Members of the police and fire departments visited the school to read to students, as did members of Hadassah, the women’s Zionist organization.
Scottie Van Duyne’s preschool students made hats to wear while reading “The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins.”
Each classroom celebrated in its own way, and each teacher picked a Top Cat and a most improved reader to be recognized at each grade-level assembly.
In all, 82 students were recognized and given $5 Wawa gift cards purchased by the Ventnor Middle School Student Council. According to student council advisor Margie Master, the members run the VECC School Store and purchased $410 in gift cards with the the proceeds.
