CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Mayor Dan Lockwood announced more meetings would take place on the road after Township Committee met in Rio Grande Sept. 17.
“We had a great turnout and were able to focus the meeting on issue of importance to the folks in Rio Grande,” he said in a press release.
The work session agenda included presentations on the proposed plans for a public-private partnership to develop recreational opportunities at the Robert “Ockie” Wisting Recreation Complex, a report by Police Chief Chris Leusner on efforts to improve safety and quality life in Rio Grande, and an engineering report on emergency drainage repairs in Shannon Oaks and road improvements about to begin on Second Street.
"The commitment to make local government more open and responsive is one we take seriously," Lockwood said. "These road trips help us to focus specifically on the issues important to the neighborhoods we visit and develop innovative approaches to making improvements, based on feedback and input from the residents of these areas."
Lockwood said he hoped that future meetings could be held in both Goshen and Swainton. Township Committee meets regularly in Cape May Court House for meetings and work sessions. Town hall is at 33 Mechanic St. in Cape May Court House.
