ATLANTIC CITY – Breathtaking aerobatics, high-speed formation flying, and gravity-defying solo routines will once again fill the sky over the Atlantic City beachfront when the resort plays host to Thunder Over The Boardwalk, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17
The free event is one of the city’s most popular, drawing an estimated 800,000 people in 2011. Flybys and demonstrations will range from 15,000 feet to 50 feet over the water in front of the Atlantic City skyline.
Advertised as one of the very best air shows in the country, the lineup includes military and civilian flyers, vintage aircraft and the latest in high-tech aerial hardware. It will be capped by the awe-inspiring U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team, performing unforgettable high-g maneuvers.
The air show is free to the public and can be viewed between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. from anywhere on the Atlantic City beach and Boardwalk.
Those wishing to view the air show from the ocean are welcome, but should be aware that there will be a “no boat zone” restricting boaters except for the U.S. Coast Guard, police and other marine units, from approaching too close to the Atlantic City beach.
Premium public seating on the beach is available through The Flight Line Club by Siganos Management, Inc. Tickets cost $30 and include one general-admission seat (no assigned location), one large hot dog or hamburger, one bottled beverage and a bag of chips. Additional refreshments will be available for purchase.
VIP seating is $50 per person and includes one seat in the designated VIP section along with unlimited food and drink. No refunds will be given. Children under 6 are admitted free, but seating is not guaranteed.
Large coolers are not permitted within the Flight Line Club area, and large beach umbrellas are discouraged as they may obstruct the view of other patrons.
For tickets and information call (609) 813-2121.
Tickets are also available at the A.C. Boardwalk Hall Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations, at www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling (800) 736-1420.
