Derien Andes of Pleasantville and his children and grandchildren spent a week in Duck, N.C. on the Outer Banks. With Andes are Paul, Kathy and Rudy Murphy of Absecon, Bill and Renee Andes of Cherry Hill, and Chris, Patti, Max and Lucy Andes of Royersford, Pa. They rented a house and enjoyed activities such as visiting Jockey Ridge State Park, which has the largest sand dunes, kayaking, riding on the beach and looking at horses, climbing Currituck lighthouse, visiting the aquarium, and relaxing by the pool. Sandy Swagler of Dennisville and Harriett Reardon Bailey of Ocean View spent a week in North Carolina. They are shown with the Gazette in the Butterfly Garden at Biltmore Estates near Ashville, North Carolina. The glass roofed building behind them is the conservatory filled with exotic plants, just as it was during George Vanderbilt’s time. Don and Karen Gerhart of Ocean City visited the OBX, Corolla Light, N.C. with their friends Skip and Denise Bateman, Jack and Marsha Kane, Joe and Michelle Kokinda and their forever travel companion the Ocean City Gazette.

The swimmers compete for both the Mays Landing Mantas and Vineland Seals swim teams. They won many medals and ribbons for their outstanding performance at the four-day event. Jeanne and Ken Rickert of Marmora spent a wonderful week staying at the town of Rodanthe on the Outer Banks of North Carolina with the Gazette. One of the highlights was their visits to the Currituck Beach, Bodie Island and Cape Hatteras lighthouses. The couple says, despite all the new houses being built it is refreshing to see how this 70 plus mile of coastline remains mostly unspoiled. Wolfe, Stella, Jeff and Greta Schwartz spent their spring break hiking and chasing waterfalls along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smokey Mountains with the Gazette.

Elon University Camerata at their Celebration of Light concert

Bruce and Donna Rahn of Seaville and Gretchen, Pastor Mark and Diane Bruesehoff of Marmora are shown with the Gazette at Elon University in North Carolina. Gretchen is a student at the school and her parents and the Rahns traveled to hear her sing with the Elon University Camerata at their Celebration of Light concert on Dec. 3.

Trip to the top

The Goldman family of Egg Harbor Township – mom Debbie; Pete, 17; Dad Jerry; Sam, 16; and Tommy,12 – took a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in August, staying at a hotel in Kill Devil Hills. All except Mom climbed to the top of the Cape Hatteras Light Station, pictured. The family also visited Kitty Hawk, the site of the Wilbur and Orville Wright Memorial.

Colonist conveyance

The 69-foot ship is a reproduction of a 16th-century square-rigged sailing vessel representative of those used to transport Sir Walter Raleigh's first colonists to the New World in 1585. Ashville, N.C

The Gazette attended a family reunion in December at the Japanese Steak House in Ashville, N.C. Pictured is Eleanor Eason, of Ocean City, holding the paper, along with Rosemary and Bob Ervin, of Raleigh, N.C., David Ervin, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and celebrating birthdays are grandsons Mischa and Eli Cowan, with daughter,
Carol Wasson, of Ashville, N.C.

Pictured in front of a lifeguard stand, the Gazette traveled to Nags Head, North Carolina along with the children from the Angelastro, Greenwood, Holloway, Johnson and Nathan families all of Upper Township. The families spent a week in August in the Outer Banks in what has started to become a yearly summer tradition.

The Ridgway, Camey, Pepe, Young, Aldridge and Dalessio families enjoyed an end-of-summer surfing safari on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Dale and Erik Conover of Absecon brought The Current when they stopped at the Wright Brothers Memorial in the Outer Banks of North Carolina while vacationing in Nags Head, where the family rented a beachfront house over Easter break. Missing from the picture are Jill and Ashley Conover and also friend Danielle Telle.

Reunion in Kitty Hawk

Ella Belcher of Egg Harbor Township, her daughters and their families all vacationed in Kitty Hawk, N.C. They came from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida and Delaware to reunite.  They had a great time visiting together and enjoying the Outer Banks.

The view from Grandfather Mountain

Taylor Crimi happened to be on vacation with her grandparents when she explored Grandfather Mountain and the Mile High Bridge at Blowing Rock, N.C. The road trip went from New Jersey to South Florida, up through the western side of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and finished in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The trip totaled 3,500 miles.

Just passing through

Frank and Joan Posselt of Egg Harbor Township visited the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., on their way to a family reunion in the Smoky Mountains.

Now inn business

Nichole and Danielle Vizthum of Absecon brought The Current along on their trip to Clinton, N.C., to visit their Aunt Patty and Uncle Mason Tarr, who are the new innkeepers of the Ashford Inn Bed and Breakfast.
