Sisters Eunice Mack and Lenora Lampson enjoy a cruise with
The Current on the Pride of Hawaii in January.

The Upper Township Gazette was present for
the graduation of Cadet Marcelle Andrews of the University
of Hawaii at Manoa Army Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC)
from the United States 1st Battalion, 507th Parachute
Infantry Regiment Basic Airborne Course located in Fort
Benning, Georgia. Her parents, Mark and Carolyn Andrews of
Marmora, were present for the successful 5 jump completion.

Getting the most out of Maui
The Mulholland family of Egg Harbor
Township took The Current to Maui, Hawaii in February. Jim,
Lauren and their son Benjamin went snorkeling, hiking,
swimming and whale watching – the humpback whales were
everywhere. They went to the top of the volcano and down
below into the lava tubes. |

Our Lady of Sorrows travel club from
Linwood took a cruise to Hawaii on the Carnival Spirit with

 Taking in Hawaii
Inez and Lou Barberio of Egg Harbor Township attended a
business convention in Kauai, Hawaii in March. In between
meetings they were able to enjoy some amazing weather and
get some much-needed sun. While he ventured out on a rafting
adventure to location sights of “Jurassic Park” and “King
Kong,” she stayed at the resort and relaxed at the Anara Spa
with a massage treatment.

Monkeying around in Hawaii
Rose and Sandy Hickerson of Absecon went
to the Hawaiian Islands on a seven-day cruise sailing on the
Pride of Aloha. On their fourth day they visited the zoo on
the island of Hilo.

 The Gazette cruised the Hawaiian Islands
with the Everson family. Besides snorkeling and volcano
exploring, sons Kyle and Glenn fulfilled a dream of surfing
the pipeline on the north shore of Oahu.

Beach, Hawaii, with The Wildwood Leader.

junior literature major at Ramapo College, completed a
semester as part of the National Student Exchange Program
at the University of Hawaii, Hilo. Mom and Mary flew out for
a visit in December. |
 Gushing over their Oahu trip
Stephany Vaca of Mays Landing and Laura Daniels of Marlton,
friends who met at the Richard Stockton College of New
Jersey, visited Hawaii from mid-July to mid-August and had
the time of their lives. Here, they stand by the Halona
blowhole on Oahu, a small shoreline geyser which was a
setting in the movie “50 First Dates.”

 Remembering the USS
Arizona
Committeeman Paul Hodson
of Egg Harbor Township enjoyed a belated 25th anniversary
vacation with his wife, Patricia, in the Hawaiian
Islands. They visited the “Big Island” of Hawaii as well as
the islands of Oahu and Maui. Here, Paul and Pat are
pictured in front of the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl
Harbor, the final resting place for many of the battleship's
1,177 crew members who lost their lives on Dec. 7, 1941. |
Getting a tan in the Aloha State
Al and Sheila Hedelt of Linwood, left, and Nancy and George
Butrus of Mays Landing went on a three-week vacation that
started with four days of sightseeing in San Francisco. From
there they went to Kauai, Hawaii, for seven days of
delightful weather, beaches and exploring and then on to the
big island, Hawaii, for the last leg. This picture was taken
at Mauna Loa Village, where they stayed for eight days.

joined brother Tripp Coggins and his wife Arleen and parents
Leo and Gail Leopardi from Beesley’s Point on the Pride of
America ship cruise to the Hawaiian Islands.

 Aloha! Wildwood Crest residents Tim Bennett and Bonnie Sharp
recently spent some time vacationing together in both Oahu
and Maui. Their days were filled with sightseeing and dining
in some of the most memorable places in Hawaii. They also
packed their favorite local newspaper for the trip -- The
Wildwood Leader. |

Living it up at the luau
Isabelle, Jonathan and
Chris Nazha traveled to Maui, Hawaii, during spring break.
This photo was taken at the Old Lahaina Luau. They went on
to Oahu for a visit to Pearl Harbor and a few nights on
Waikiki Beach.

 Jim and Jane Mount of Villas brought the
Gazette to Hilo, Hawaii, where Jim ran in a 10.8 mile race as part
of the Big Island International Marathon. He said he finished in an
hour and 46 minutes, calling it a good time for him, especially
since the first 8 miles were mostly uphill. The photo was taken
March 18. |

Roadarmel (left), of Harleysville, Pa., Ashlea and
Shawnee Foglio, of Palermo, and Blanche Roadarmel,
of Ocean City, are shown with the Gazette on the
grounds of the Royal Lahaina Resort, Maui, Hawaii,
overlooking the island of Molokai. The Gazette
traveled with the family during a two-week summer
vacation to San Francisco and Hawaii.

Hanging loose in Hawaii
Douglas and Barbara
Loose of Somers Point traveled to Hawaii to visit their son
and daughter-in-law, Jay and LoriAnn Loose of Honolulu,
Hawaii. Jay, a former Somers Point resident, is a Navy
musician and a member of the Pacific Fleet Band in Pearl
Harbor. The couples are pictured here at Diamond Head State
Monument on the island of Oahu.

 Not a bad place to do
some research
Jim, Judy, Delaney and
MacKenzie Alton of Egg Harbor Township visited Maui for 15
days, including a two-day trip to the Big Island to visit
their good friend, Pelé, at her home in Kilauea, Caldera.
They are pictured overlooking Halemaumau Crater. They were
there celebrating Jim’s graduation from Richard Stockton
College with a degree in education. The trip presented a
perfect opportunity to study volcanoes up close for Jim, a
new seventh-grade science teacher at the Alder Avenue Middle
School. The family spent time hiking over lava fields and
viewing the Pu’u Loa Petroglyphs and Holei Sea Arch on Chain
of Craters Road. |
 Molly Lamont went on a nine-day
trip to beautiful Maui. She is seen here relaxing with the Gazette
next to an ancient tribal war canoe. Molly and the Gazette survived
the plane ride far better than the photographers, Linda and Jay
Lamont.

Hawaiian cruise on the Island Princess with the Gazette.

A wave from Waikiki
Dennis and Cherie Flath of Egg Harbor Township traveled to Hawaii
for a glorious 16-day stay to celebrate their 25th wedding
anniversary. They enjoyed snorkeling, hiking to a waterfall, biking,
kayaking, an “earthquake,” and just sharing their love together.

high above the city of Waikiki in the background.

Skip Jastremski
of Rio Grande/Wildwood Crest traveled to Oahu, Hawaii just before
the holidays and said he “spent 16 glorious days in Surfers Paradise
exploring the North Shore, visiting the Pipeline Masters surfing
contest and The Triple Crown events. While there (we) traveled to
Haleiwa, the surfing capital of the world, and hung out with Johnny
Moore of the Famous Grass Skirt Grill.” He said there is also one in
Ocean City, and called it family oriented. He also traveled to Pearl
Harbor “and saw many sights that will be cherised in my heart for a
life time.” While there, he also traveled to the island of Maui on a
day outing and climbed to the top of Haleakala National Park (10,000
feet) saying “What a view.” When at home Jastremski said he enjoys
the company of his kids, grandkids and friends in Cape May County. |

Dining out on Kauai
Kathy Erskine of Somers Point, her niece Megan Zega, and friend
Laura from Philadelphia traveled to Kauai, Hawaii, for a week in
October 2006. The trio enjoyed a great dinner and drinks before
heading back home.

Happy trails to waterfalls
In January Phyllis Bagnell of Galloway Township and
Melanie Lehneis of Egg Harbor City celebrated Lehneis’s
birthday by traveling to Oahu to see Pearl Harbor and then
to Maui for whale watching and hiking trails along
waterfalls in Hana. They enjoyed shopping in Lahaina,
Hawaii. |
