With the price of gasoline at $4 a gallon, when a dollar cannot buy a euro, and when the air travel industry (both at the airport as well as on the plane) treat passengers worse than cattle at a chute going to the slaughterhouse, Betty and Cornell Dowlin of Moorestown and Ocean City decided to have different travel plans this year. They traveled to the far end of Tennessee Avenue to the boat ramp in Ocean City. They observed the Great Egg Harbor Bay and the B.L. England generating plant in the distance. Now for those of you who are “chronologically gifted” like this octogenarian (that is old), you may remember Sen. Claghorn on the old Fred Allen pre-television radio show who said: “That is a joke, son.” And so it is. This is a joke, son. The college’s many-spired buildings inspired a poet to call Oxford City the “city of dreaming spires.”
