Tom Byrne named president of J. Byrne Agency

WILDWOOD – Thomas P. Byrne was named president of J. Byrne Insurance Agency last week.
Byrne, who joined the agency in 1982 and was named vice president in 1988, takes the place of his father, James A. Byrne, who was the president for close to 50 years. James Byrne will remain as secretary-treasurer to the corporation and will continue to perform the duties associated with that position.
In recent years, J. Byrne Insurance has enjoyed an expansion, with offices now in Marmora and Cape May Court House, in addition to the firm’s longstanding headquarters in Wildwood.
Tom Byrne holds a Certificate in General Insurance from the Insurance Institute of America and an Accredited Advisor in Insurance Designation from the Insurance Institute of America.
A 1977 graduate of Wildwood High School, Tom Byrne earned his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers College in 1981 and his diploma in risk and insurance from the College of Insurance, Manhattan, in 1982.
“My grandfather and father before me have been very successful by employing wonderful people to work for this agency,” explained Byrne of his family’s achievements in the insurance industry. “By respecting the ability of the clients to choose from many other insurance outlets, I plan to continue the success of this philosophy while at the same time moving this company forward to compete in today’s marketplace.”
Byrne is a member of the board of directors of the Wildwood Downtown Business Improvement District; the Doo Wop Preservation League; and the Wildwood Golf and Country Club. He has been active with business and community organizations, including serving as a member and past president of the Optimist Club of the Wildwoods; president and campaign chairman of United Way of Cape May County; and as a board member of the New Jersey Insurance Fair Plan. Tom Byrne is an avid fisherman who lives in Wildwood Crest with his wife and daughter.
